When Street Fighter 5 was first announced, fans were caught off guard by Capcom’s decision to only release it on PS4 and PC. No one was expecting the brawler to become a PS4 console exclusive, leaving the Xbox One out in the cold. After the shock wore off, fans started assuming that the game was only a timed exclusive and would eventually make its way to Xbox. Today Capcom smashed any hope that Street Fighter 5 would ever grace Microsoft’s latest console.
A Capcom representative reached out to Gamespot to confirm once and for all that Street Fighter 5 is going to stay locked into its PC and PS4 deal. The representative gave few details about why the title was staying locked, only saying the deal wasn’t just for marketing purposes, but for development as well, suggesting Sony is playing a part in the games development.
Capcom’s representative didn’t stop there though. They squashed any possible hope gamers had of future iterations of Street Fighter 5 making its way to Xbox One. Meaning they can forget titles like Super Street Fighter 5 ever popping up in the Xbox library.
It’s sad to see that Street Fighter 5 won’t be making an appearance on Microsoft’s latest console, but Xbox One owners still have plenty to look forward to. Xbox already has an impressive lineup of exclusive titles for owners to enjoy that should make this news easier to bear.
